RUN OF THE MILL GRADE

We set out to find a way to create a more predictable product in our lower grade of both our pine and poplar. We wanted for you to be able to work through each pack of lumber with a certain sense of focus and comfort that would allow you to make for a quick installation.

No matter the grade of lumber here, we expect to have character in the wood we sell. Whether you’re using our standard knotty pine or installing our poplar, we only want character in our lumber and we know that’s something you’ve come to expect working with us.

Our mill is prepared to ensure that every layer in your pack of our secondary grade has what we consider to be 10% or less waste in it. We watch to ensure that a minimum number of defects, such as missing knots, cracks, or barky edges appear in your packs. We understand that waste is really dependent upon the eye of the beholder, but while maximizing the character in your pack, our mill strives to minimize the waste. The Run of the Mill isn’t designed to make it so you can always use full length boards, but it does give you a better chance of reducing your board waste to make for a fantastic finale.

We call it our Run of the Mill Grade and clearly our mill isn’t like everyone else’s. It was built for you.

BENCHMARK GRADE

We didn’t want to stop with our Run of the Mill Grade, though. We wanted to make sure you had another option. While maintaining a standard of character, we wanted to raise the bar on quality. We wanted to set a benchmark for all our wood types.

This grade allows you to purchase the lumber with minimal waste (typically 5% or less) and install with greater ease. The planks generally allow you to run full boards and will generally be cleaner in appearance, but still retaining the character you’ve come to expect from Kentucky Lumber.

With this standard excellence, you may be installing Cypress in your porch ceiling, White Oak flooring in your living room, White Pine shiplap in your kitchen, or even Eastern Cedar in your closets. No matter what, you’ll be installing with a different confidence. You’ll be enjoying our Benchmark Grade. It’s proven to be a cut above.

Plenty of character.

less waste.
