“We have used Kentucky Lumber for every single room in our new home, whether it’s reclaimed barn wood floors, shiplap walls or tongue and groove ceilings. These unique finishes are one of our absolute favorite features in our home.”

Customer Story: The DeVries’ Dream Home

The DeVries family wanted to add some extra character to their dream home as it was being built. And they were kind of enough to include us and our lumber in their plans. By the way, the DeVries were building much of their beautiful Kentucky home overlooking Drakes Creek themselves.

We consulted with them, discussed their needs and wants, and came up with a game plan that included Shiplap, Tongue and Groove and Reclaimed Barn Wood Flooring. What they created with our lumber is nothing short of glorious.

Why we love this project.

By Derek Guyer

“The DeVries’ beautiful home is a testament to the kind of people they are and both the creative and hard work they put into it. Watching them work beside their sons and teach them carpentry, a good work ethic and craftsmanship was beautiful. “

“The team went out of their way to help us get exactly what we were looking for. They were kind, professional and a pleasure to work with.”

Chris and Monica’s Basement Remodel

Chris and Monica made the drive down in their jeep with the trailer in tow from Bardstown, Kentucky last summer to pick up a big load of shiplap. We loved talking with them and hearing about their ideas! Monica had drywall in one of the bedrooms and really wanted shiplap for this finish. Seeing their dream become a reality is such an inspiration to all of us!

The Taylor's Ark Encounter AirBnB

Kevin and Audra have built an absolute dream home! Every inch of the home pops with character and life. From the shiplap ceilings, to the private pool, hot tub, and the comfortable beds, this AirBnB is incredible! Honestly, the home is a wonderful reflection of who they are as people. Everywhere you turn, character seems to ooze out of this place.

Serving Mary- Helping the Helpless

When one of our customers contacted us about needing shiplap and tongue and groove for a project, we learned about a couple of men who were clearly full of character. These two gentlemen, who asked to remain anonymous, set out to help a woman in need in their small town. Her home was falling apart and she was helpless. They heard problems had developed with her bathroom and that there was water in the crawl space. They knew Mary, an 83 year old woman, could not afford to even begin the project.

The Bell’s Beautiful Home

Almost one year after we first talked to Mike and Cindy Bell, they came down from Indiana to pick up their southern yellow pine flooring. Thanks to covid restrictions in their home state, the Bells were forced to wait quite a while to have a chance to pick up their flooring! Progress on their new home build had stalled thanks to the restrictions. They were very excited about getting their lumber so they could move ahead!

Dana's Colorful Home Renovation

Late in 2019, Dana came to us looking for shiplap and beadboard for her own home renovation. Nine months later she sent us update pics and we were floored by how amazing it all turned out! We are still in awe of how she used that gorgeous color scheme!

Todd Powell - First-Time Flooring Pro

Meet Todd! Todd is a runner. He runs races. He runs his lawn care service. He runs after his dreams. We love his drive and his creativity. Todd is a humble hustler, and we want to learn to run like he does!

Todd visited us in February of this year to pick up a trailer full of white oak flooring for his living room remodel. This was to be his first experience installing hardwood, so he had some reservations initially, but after a few phone calls back and forth, he was ready to head this way. One month and 5 days later, we received pictures of his beautifully finished floor, and oh my goodness were we impressed! Todd, you're a true craftsman and gentleman, and we are so thankful for the opportunity we had to serve you!

The Halls- Log Home to Farmhouse Dreams

Lisa and Troy have a heart to serve. This is evident, not only in their professions in the medical field, but in how they raised their three children, who all serve with the United States Armed Forces. The Hall's are people we want to be like. They embody traits that we pray our children will acquire and that we strive to have shine through our own lives. Lisa and Troy are kind and understanding when the going gets rough, and when it does, their perseverance and determination help them to fight through it.

In the fall of 2017, the Hall's made the brave decision to list their home on the market, and purchased a farm in Lancaster, Kentucky. The farm had a log home on it, but it needed quite a bit of renovating. They got to work planning right away, and contacted us in early 2018 to inquire about their lumber options.

Dennis McCants-Building a Dream Cabin

Where do we start, when telling you about Dennis? There’s a lot you ought to know about this man. He’s brave. He’s tough. He’s generous. He will literally give you the shirt off of his back (he tried this once when I came in soaking wet from loading his trailer in the rain). Dennis is crafty and determined. He used to be a Nissan technician, but now he works tirelessly on the Tennessee highways to ensure safe travel for others. He has a passion for the outdoors (especially Dale Hollow Lake). He loves fishing! In fact, there’s only three things he loves more: his loving wife Kim, his beautiful grandchildren, and the Lord. We want to be like Dennis.

Jeff's Rustic Shiplap Project

When Jeff told us about his rustic addition project, we knew that it was going to turn out amazing, but we didn’t have the imagination to expect that it would be this amazing! We are so excited to see Jeff’s rustic shiplap all finished! He did an amazing job taking his lumber and space to building something stunning!

Martha & Dustin’s Cottage of Perfection

Martha and Dustin have a fantastic new home build story, and we’re super excited to finally share it with you all! They built a cozy Sugarberry Cottage from the ground up and used a huge amount of pine finishing lumber! There is so much shiplap in that home!!!

Martha and Dustin were blessed to be able to build the home on their own, since, as she likes to say, Dustin is “handy!” This naturally prolonged the time they spent on the build (Dustin does have a full time job after all) but after beginning their build early in 2016, they came to us for finishing lumber in April of 2017. They moved in towards the end of that year!

Eric and Diane's Rustic Vrbo Cabins!

When we first met Eric, in 2019, he had come to pick up some tongue and groove for the rental cabins he and his wife were building near Lake Barkley. This guy is an absolute joy to serve and we are so excited about how those three cabins have turned out! They’re amazing!

Richmond Custom's Yellow Pine Ceiling

We LOVE this collaboration project between home-owners Paisley and Michael and their skilled craftsman Tommy! They took our southern yellow pine flooring to new heights when they decided to install some in the ceiling of their home addition. WOW did it turn out great! The way the straight lines of the tongue and groove boards contrast with the octagonal shape of the window makes for a stellar look. Good work y’all!

Hannah’s Perfect Bedroom

Brooke’s family worked together to turn her daughter Hannah’s top-floor bedroom into a place of rest that anyone could relax in. Inspired by one of the upper-floor studies at the famed Cheekwood Mansion in Nashville, Tennessee, the Humbles crafted a space that perfectly combines respite and inspiration.

The Hawkins - Horse Stables to House Extraordinaire

The Jakos

Have you ever met a couple that, although you have no relation to, they instantly feel like family? That's how we felt the first time we met Henry and Linda! They have a peace and a charm about them that just feels familiar and comforting. They're not just good people. They are Great People!

Henry works with a pest control company, but he is also the Chief of the Highland Fire Department in Hopkinsville. Linda has been helping people since 1983 as a nurse. Their heart to serve and love on people is so deeply ingrained in them that it radiates outward in conversation and in action. Linda and Henry are a "power couple", and we LOVE to watch the way they work together to accomplish their dreams and to live out lives that so positively affect those around them.

The Jakos came to us in early 2019 when they began dreaming of renovating their home. They wanted to give it a rustic look, with lots of character! A character-filled life reflects into a character-filled home, and what better way to achieve that than by installing beautiful blue-stained ponderosa pine. Full of creativity and outside-the-box ideas (we love the way you think Henry!), they decided to not only install the blue stain pine on their living room ceiling, but also on the floors. They even built a door from their waste pile. Check out their beautiful work!

Barndominium- The Lasater's Dream House

Chris and Kelly first visited us in July of 2019 after talking for almost 6 months about our knotty pine shiplap and tongue and groove. They left with a huge load of our 8" Common Grade Shiplap on that trip. They were building a Barn House! Originally from Lebanon TN, the Lasater's decided to build close to home just outside of town on a big wooded lot with plenty of room for their 3 children (and Chris!) to roam. Driving through Nashville to pick up their shiplap, Kelly said she was reminded of just how much she enjoyed living in the country. We don't blame her!
